Danny Danon, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations has harshly criticized S. Michael Lynk, the UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur on the “human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory” for Lynk's call during a media briefing at the UN for sanctions to be placed on Israel.

In his remarks, Lynk also claimed that “Gaza remains occupied,” and that the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement is “a form of free expression for people anywhere to protest any company or country.” Danon replied, “Mr. Lynk is exploiting his position to spread hateful incitement against the state of Israel and is acting as a BDS activist under the auspices of the UN.”
