Member of Knesset Amir Peretz (Zionist Union) has demanded an urgent meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, in light of the Polish authorities' intention not to compensate for stolen Jewish property.
Peretz noted that three million Polish Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust left a lot of private property and that the Polish authorities are raising difficulties to prevent compensation to Jewish heirs living in Israel and other countries. Peretz asked to summon Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the heads of the organization for the restitution of Jewish property.
