The disciplinary court of the Israel Basketball Association has decided to punish the Hapoel Tel-Aviv basketball team with a game played away from its home arena and a fine of NIS 50,000. In addition, the Hapoel suffered another two Radius games and NIS 50,000 probation. Group chairman Rami Cohen was fined NIS 2,000 and another NIS 1,500 on probation.
The punishment stems from an incident during last Saturday night's game against Hapoel Jerusalem in which a cigarette lighter was thrown at a referee from the Hapoel Tel Aviv fans' section. An association attorney noted during the trial that it was not the first incident of disorderly conduct on behalf of the team's fans.
