The Knesset Finance Committee has approved the request of Interior Minister Aryeh Deri to reduce the minimum municipal tax paid on greenhouses from 340 shekels to NIS 100 per dunam (quarter acre).
According to the decision, the tariff will also apply to agricultural structures such as cooling houses and sheds. Local authorities will have to approve the new rate in the plenum and bring it for individual approval by the Minister of the Interior and the Finance Ministry. The initiative had the support of the Farmers' Union and regional councils.
