A recent study by MasterCard and the World Food Program showed that the cost of buying a plate of food in developing countries or in lands in constant conflict could reach hundreds of dollars worth of purchasing power.
According to the study, the cost of a basic meal in the US will cost about $ 1.20, representing 0.6% of the per capita income in the United States, while, for example, it was found that in South Sudan, a bowl of beans with rice costs about $321 and constitutes about 155% of the average daily income of the country's citizens. In Nigeria, the meal will cost about $200, in Syria $190 and in Malawi $94. On the other hand, in countries like Egypt or Jordan the meal will cost about $9 and $4 respectively.
