Washington D.C. police are investigating an alleged shooting incident at Howard university in Washington.

Few details are available and law enforcement officers, some armed, continue to search the campus.

The incident began to unfold around noon at the college, a private, traditionally black institution located off Georgia and Michigan avenues in Northwest Washington.

In a Twitter message, Howard University said they had received an anonymous report of a “potential shooter on campus.”

“We took the call seriously and police are investigating,” the university said in the tweet.

University President Wayne A. I. Frederick said there was no evidence yet of a shooting having taken place.
