Hundreds attended the funeral of 44-year-old Orit Gur, who died two weeks after falling off a horse during a visit to Georgia with her husband. Orit's father was in hospital under sedation during the funeral, after receiving a kidney transplant. The donor, however, was none other than his deceased daughter, whose final act may save her father's life.
Gur left a husband and two children at her death but had signed an Adi card seven years ago allowing the donation of organs after her death. Besides her father, who had suffered from kidney failure and waited three years for a transplant, Gur's organs were transplanted into 3 other people: A 27-year-old man received her other kidney, a 49-year-old man received her heart and 55-year-old woman received her liver.
