Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara toured the Holocaust Memorial Museum on Mount Zion in Jerusalem on Monday evening. During the tour, the prime minister was shown rare exhibits that survived the war and wrote in the guest book, "Moved by the shocking sights of our basement - we will always remember our loved ones who perished. The people of Israel Lives! Never Again!". Sara Netanyahu lit a memorial candle on the gravestone of the Bilgoraj, Poland community, in memory of her family members who perished in the Holocaust.
The Holocaust Chamber was established in 1949 and is the first Holocaust memorial museum established after the war. In its early years, the museum served as a symbolic cemetery for the survivors, who covered its walls with monuments commemorating their destroyed communities and held memorial ceremonies for their loved ones.
