Police chief Roni Alshich has told one of his associates that if the criticism is the price he is required to pay, he accepts it with love, as long as it stops at him and does not harm investigators, according to Channel 2 Television.

He was responding to sources close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu who cited him last night for running counter to decisions about no leaks from investigations and no more recommendations from the police. The sources claimed "a clear media campaign against Prime Minister Netanyahu," and said corruption allegations would prove false. The police responded by saying, "The Israel Police is doing its work according to the law and the state, and we will not be dragged into baseless attacks designed to disrupt the work of the police and undermine the legitimacy of the rule of law." Meanwhile, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan has initiated questions about leaks from investigations of senior figures in the periodic polygraph test for police officers.
