This week, a new premature-baby ward was inaugurated in the neonatal intensive care unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. The unit, the most advanced of its kind in Israel, is located in the mother and child building, close to the various maternity wards.

Professor Smadar Even-Tov, director of the unit, said "The unit includes eight intensive care centers, which include not only advanced equipment adapted to our young patients, but also enable families to be there and take an active part in treating them, even in intensive care." Describing it as "on on the global forefront in the perception of modern care in newborns," she said, "Each room has only one premature baby, which allows proper, advanced treatment conditions, as well as a significant reduction in the risk of infections."
