The local council of Kochav Yair-Tzur Yigal has petitioned the High Court of Justice against Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and ministry director general Mordechai Cohen for their actions in setting up a new border committee for Tzur Yitzhak, less than a year after adopting the recommendations of the first committee.
The petition claims, "There is a grave suspicion that behind these things there are extraneous, political and, needless to say, also unacceptable considerations." It follows two recent contradictory decisions by the committee regarding the unification of the Kochav Yair-Mor Yigal Local Council with Tzur Yitzhak, a year after the ministry accepted the recommendations of the old committee.
