The Commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, General Mohammad Ali Jafari announced that if the new U.S. sanctions law against Iran is implemented, it would mean that the U.S. has unilaterally withdrawn from the JCPOA nuclear agreement,

Jafari responded Sunday to reports that Washington will impose “harsh sanctions” on Iran, saying that should the new U.S. sanctions go into force, Washington would have to move its regional bases that are within Iranian missiles’ reach.

This came after some reports in the U.S. suggested that President Donald Trump may designate the entire Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps(IRGC) as a terrorist organization. 10 years ago, it designated the IRGC’s Al-Quds Force as a terror group, and the entire IRGC has been sanctioned for activities relating to nuclear proliferation and alleged human rights abuses.

The Iranian commander noted that if Washington designates the IRGC as a terrorist organization, the IRGC will “designate American forces that are present across the world, especially in the Middle East, as equivalent to ISIS.”

Stressing that negotiations with the U.S. is a big mistake, Jafari said, “The Islamic Republic intents to resolve regional issues somewhere other than the negotiating table.”
