A day-old baby was found dead in its hospital crib at the Hillel Yaffe hospital in Hadera. The cause of death was unknown.
The baby had been treated by the nurse at the baby nursery a short time before. A long resuscitation process failed and the medical team were forced to declare the baby dead.
The hospital stated that "the baby was born in a regular birth but due to its being jaundiced, it was receiving special treatment in the baby nursery. The family refused to perform an autopsy despite requests by medical staff. The family is from one of the communities in the Hadera region."
The health ministry was informed of the incident.
