Prior to Sukkot, the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority calls on the public to refrain from destroying trees and shrubs for the sake of the Four Species and sukka coverings.
The Chief Rabbi of Israel, David Lau, joined the call, recalling in a public announcement that there is a halakhic prohibition against the use of branches for sukka covering that were stolen, and that Four Species which are stolen should not be blessed over.
