55% of Meretz members voted on Sunday in favor of early elections for the party's leadership and for the ousting of incumbent leader MK Zehava Galon.
However, the 55% was shy of the special majority of 60% that was required in order to implement the decision, so Galon will remain in her post. The elections will also be held on their originally scheduled date.
