The government approved the request by Diaspora Minister Naftali Bennett to provide a million dollars in emergency aid to the Jewish community in Houston to enable it to recover from the enormous damage it suffered during Hurricane Harvey.
"The test for the State of the Jews is at times of crisis for our brethren around the world. This is a clearcut statement of mutual responsibilty," said Bennett in explaining the decision to provide financial aid.
