Hurricane Irma on Monday strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane with an area of sustained winds at 130 mph.
As a result, Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard. Irma is set hit the U.S. territory on Wednesday.
