A collection of dozens of seals indicating the names of officials and dating to the days of the Kingdom of Judah before the Babylonian destruction was discovered in excavations conducted in recent months by the Antiquities Authority in the City of David in the National Park around the walls of Jerusalem.
The seals are small pieces of clay used in ancient times for letters. A letter with a broken seal was on presumed to have been opened before reaching its destination.
