Police prevented a wedding from taking place in Lod after receiving information that the bride is aged 14. The putative bride is the daughter of the rabbi of a small sect of Breslov hasidim in Lod who have returned to their Jewish roots.
The legal minimum age for marriage has recently been raised to 18.
