The US treasury has placed sanctions on 16 Chinese and Russian companies and officials which it claims are maintaining contacts with North Korea.
According to a US statement, the officials who maintained contacts with Pyongyang are enabling it to promote its missile program and nuclear program, despite sanctions placed on it by the UN Security Council.
