The Government Receiver has petitioned the Supreme Court to change the law regarding a bankrupt individual who receives compensation for personal injury. At present such damages are not transferred to the person's creditors and remain his personal property.

The Receiver claimed that this led to an imbalance since no personal injury compensation can be transferred to the creditors and suggested that the part of the compensation paid for the financial damage caused to the bankrupt individual, should be transferred to creditors to pay his debts.
