The Likud party has blocked the process of joining the party via the Internet, following the fear that thousands of members of "the New Likudniks" would try to "take control of the party," according to Maariv.
A source in the Likud said that "we have indications of improper use of the Likud's registration site, and therefore it was decided to temporarily stop the Internet registration. Registration for the party using forms continues without disruption." On Friday Maariv reported that the Likud opposes "the New Likudniks" movement on the grounds that it opposes Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. It should be noted that the movement boycotted the prime minister's support event last week.
