US Attorney General Jeff Sessions denounced Saturday the violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., pledging his support for local law enforcement.
"We stand united behind the President in condemning the violence in Charlottesville and any message of hate and intolerance," Sessions said in a statement.
"This violence is totally contrary to American values and can never be tolerated."
Sessions added that the Justice Department would support local and state officers on the scene "in any way possible."
