The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee has approved an order making publication of details about Mossad intelligence agency employees and their families, as well as the institution's facilities, a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment. This means that obtaining, collecting, preparing, registering, holding or delivering this information will henceforth be an offense under the Penal Code, which is punishable by imprisonment, and not just a censorship offense as was the case until today.

The order that was approved also includes two exceptions to this sweeping prohibition: 1. The name of the head of the Mossad, past or present, shall not be a secret matter. 2. The head of the Mossad, or the Chief Military Censor in consultation with him, may confirm that certain information will not be considered a secret matter.

The committee is working on regulations for Mossad employees who leave the service and want their Mossad tenure reflected on their resumes.
