Chuck Schumer, United States Senate minority leader, wrote a letter to US president Donald Trump demanding that all announced investments from China that warrant scrutiny for national security issues should be put on hold until the government in Beijing shows more determination about North Korea.

The Wall Street Journal quoted the top Democrat's statement on Tuesday from his letter to President Donald Trump about ways to curtail North Korea's nuclear and missile programs. In the letter Schumer urged Trump to engage the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US (CFIUS) and block acquisitions and mergers.
