The government approved the establishment of a visitor's center to perpetuate the memory of Zeev Jabotinsky at a cost of 14 million NIS. The initiative will be the responsibility of the Ministry for Jerusalem and Heritage, headed by Zeev Elkin.
Today marks the anniversary of Jabotinsky's death in 1940. Jabotinsky was a Russian Jewish Revisionist Zionist leader, author, poet, orator, soldier and founder of the Jewish Self-Defense Organization in Odessa. With Joseph Trumpeldor, he co-founded the Jewish Legion of the British army in World War I. Later he established several Jewish organizations in what was then called Palestine, including Beitar, HaTzohar and the Irgun.
