Former police officer Shlomi Michael, who served as the commander of the Shomron regional unit and the anti-terror unit, attacked the GSS in a Haaretz newspaper interview after the Temple Mount terror attack.
Michael claims that the GSS is ignoring its responsibility for the intelligence failure which led to the attack and hiding behind the police which is receiving all the criticism.
He maintained that the type of attack involved prior preparation and assistance and this should have been caught by intelligence sources.
Michael said "anyone who knows the region realizes that this was not three people sitting in a restaurant and deciding to attack. This was three Israeli citizens who acquired the weapons, made a prior tour and smuggled the weapons into Temple Mount. This attack should have been prevented before they reached Jerusalem."
