The Commander of Southern Command, General Eyal Zamir, has dismissed the commander of the Karkal mixed gender battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Elad Cohen.
Cohen was relieved of his command after an internal IDF investigation was opened over allegations of improper relations between Cohen and a soldier serving under his command. IDF officers are prohibited from initiating even mutually agreed relationships with their subordinates.
