Two squadrons of IAF Apache helicopters were grounded over the last three and a half weeks and tomorrow will return to full operations.
The grounding occurred after a routine inspection revealed a crack which had developed into a 20-cm fissure in one of the rear rotors of the helicopter. The investigation included microscopic checking of rotors in a laboratory as well as the flight history of the helicopter.
The IAF also checked rotors in all of the other helicopters to see if they were suffering from similar damage.
