Funeral halted when it becomes anti-Israel procession

Jerusalem District Police Commander Yoram Halevi ordered the cancellation of an eastern Jerusalem Arab's funeral procession Sunday evening, during which participants waved Palestine Liberation Organization flags, shouted slogans against Israel and violated public order.

The Arab rioters did not respond to the orders of the policemen, blocked the Motta-Gur road and threw stones at the forces who dispersed it using crowd dispersal measures. A police officer was hit in the face by a stone and treated at the scene. The police stressed that they would not allow anyone to take advantage of a funeral and turn it into an event of a nationalist nature in violation of public order. They said they will work to find the identity of the lawbreakers and act against them.
