Supervision of afternoon care endorsed

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation has endorsed a bill for supervision of state-supported afternoon care, sponsored by Chairwoman Yifat Shasha-Biton of the Knesset Committee on the Rights of the Child, and Member of Knesset Yaakov Margi (Shas) who serves on the Education Committee.

Among other things, the proposal calls for a limit or 35 children and authorizes the Minister of Education to determine the maximum price and the basic package of services that will be provided in the framework of the program. Under the measure, an afternoon-care operator who collects more than the maximum price will be fined up to NIS 50,000.
