Meretz Members of Knesset Zehava Galon, Tamar Zandberg and Michal Rozin have appealed to Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein to suspend MK Nissan Slomiansky from chairing the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee during a probe into allegations of sexual harassment against him. They claimed, "It is unacceptable and unreasonable that while Slomiansky is in a criminal investigation into these serious accusations, he will continue to run any committee in the Knesset. The continuation of his tenure as chairman of the committee at this stage will lead to a moral corruption and ridicule of the discussions."
They continued, "The Knesset must renounce any sexual offender and harasser, and not allow his continued term of office as chairman as long as the criminal cloud hovers over him. The continuation of business as usual in this case will convey the message that the Knesset treats offenses of sexual harassment and offenses against women very lightly, while it must stand at the forefront of the struggle to eradicate the grave phenomenon."
