Interior Minister Aryeh Deri told the Supreme Court on Sunday that he is considering adopting the recommendation of a committee to unify the cities of Bat Yam and Tel Aviv-Jaffa to come into effect in 2023.
Preparations for the unification will begin in the near future with the establishment of a government administration to deal with the issue. The Union will actually take place in the elections for the united municipality in 2023 - elections for one mayor for the united city. By 2023, Bat Yam will be under a special fiscal recovery program - a forerunner of unification.
