France is working to appoint Jewish former culture minister Audrey Azoulay to head the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, known for its recent anti-Israel votes. The Jerusalem Post estimated that Israel prefers not to speak about Azoulay's candidacy because of the feeling that any Israeli statement on her behalf would only harm her.
