Police asked Lehava leader Bentzi Gopstein not to protest when President Rivlin arrived in Kiryat Arba to participate in the festivities in honor of the liberation of Judea and Samaria. Police even invited him to the Betar Illit police station in order to prevent him from protesting at the event.

Gopstein responded by saying that "the Israeli police continue their policy of shutting mouths. They are not ready to handle a legitimate demonstration against a person who blames the Jewish people for choosing terror. They should internalize that freedom of speech and demonstration is the foundation of democracy."
