A special meeting took place in the committee for immigration, absorption and the Diaspora to mark 25 years since diplomatic relations were established between Israel and Azerbaijan.
The meeting was initiated by MK Ksania Svetlova(Zionist Union) and included participation of Environment and Heritage minister Zeev Elkin and the head of the Absorption committee MK Avraham Ngosa and other dignitaries.
The meeting discussed how to improve and upgrade the excellent diplomatic relationship between the two countries and how to establish relations between the countries on issues of culture and tourism.
Israel's ambassador to Azarbaijan said that "Jews in Azarbaijan are a trademark, people are still upset that the Jews who were the doctors, teachers and central figures in the country left the counry." At present 30,000 of Azarbaijan's 100,000 strong community remain there.
