'Samaria tragedy not decreed by fate'

Attorney Vered Windman, the director-general of the National Council for the Child, responded to the tragedy which occurred in Samaria Thursday, where a one-year-old baby was forgotten for hours in a car and died.

Windman blamed the Transport Ministry for delaying new directives which would require installing technological devices to prevent these tragedies from occurring. The new directives have been issued regarding schoolbuses but have not yet been applied to private cars.

Windman said that such tragedies were "not decreed by fate."

Over the past summer seven children lost their lives after being forgotten in cars and today is the eighth such case.
