The Netanya Magistrates Court has ruled that a man must return most of the money to the buyer of a dog he claimed to be "purebred" while not providing a pedigree to prove it. The seller offered the woman to return the 8,000-shekel purchase price if she returned the dog, but she refused on the grounds that she had already become attached to the dog and that she was afraid that if she returned the dog to the seller he would sell it again.
The judge ruled that the seller must return to the owner of the dog 7,500 of the NIS 8,000 purchas price, assuming that the price of a non-purebred dog is about 500 shekels. In addition, the judge ruled that the seller must compensate the buyer for NIS 15,000 and also pay her attorney's fees in the amount of NIS 5,000.
