The Military Advocate General, Brig. Gen. Sharon Afek, on Wednesday referred to the Elor Azariya affair in an interview with the Israel Bar Association’s magazine.
"I am completely at peace with the way we acted in the Azariya case, and this is also evident in the verdict of the soldier," said Afek, adding, "There is no official in the defense establishment who told me, 'I want you to act one way or another.’ All decisions were completely independent, without external influence or an attempt to influence. "
Afek said that Azariya had fired without justification and without operational need at a neutralized terrorist, adding that the Azariya affair was "a legal and moral milestone in the history of military law...The real test of the affair will be in the perspective of time."
