A joint Knesset committee, headed by MK David Bitan (Likud), on Tuesday evening approved for a second and third reading the government's proposal to amend the Public Broadcasting Corporation Law, and to set up a separate news corporation. The proposal was approved following marathon sessions that began on Sunday.
After the vote, MK Bitan said, "We worked on it for long hours. Thanks to everyone who participated. I know that some of the IBA employees are not satisfied, but I think we tried to do everything we could so that the IBA employees would be harmed as little as possible."
