The Dublin City Council decided to raise a Palestinian flag over the municipal hall for a month as a sign of solidarity with the Palestinians and in order to "mark 50 years of Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza".

Originally the flag was to be raised on 15th May, the day termed Naqba by Palestinians, but it was decided to fly it from Tuesday already.

Israel responded angrily stating that this is "surrendering to terror organizations, hatred and blackmail."
