The Supreme Court has urged the state to conduct a new hearing in the Finance Committee regarding the controversial law to tax those who hold a third property.

The law would place a 1% annual tax on those who hold ownership rights in more than 2.5 properties at a maximum of 18,000 NIS per annum.

The law was sharply contested by opposition parties and other non-political elements as being complex and unfair. Knesset legal advisor Eyal Yinon also opposed the way in which the law was legislated.
