Evidence of fierce battles between the British and Ottoman armies, in the form of dozens of bullet casings, fragments of shells and military items from World War I, was recently exposed in an Israel Antiquities Authority archaeological excavation involving youth near Rosh Ha'ayin, east of Tel Aviv, straddling the 1949 Armistice Line.

The excavation was carried out as part of the paving of an access road between Rosh Ha'ayin and the Afek Industrial Park, financed by the Rosh Ha'ayin municipality.
