Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev has sharply criticized the conduct of Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot of the Israel Defense Forces in the case of Elor Azariya, who is appealing an 18-month sentence on a conviction for manslaughter in the shooting death of a wounded terrorist.
Interviewed by IDF Radio, the Likud lawmaker said, "The IDF needs a courageous army commander. He has to say as commander of the army 'When I send soldiers to the army, I know how to protect them.' I have not heard that."
