Housing and Construction Minister Yoav Galant, a member of the political-security cabinet, said on Tuesday that there is nothing to be excited about from Sunday's verbal attack on Israel by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, since Erdoğan was only talking.

Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, the retired general said, "It is known that he is not a lover of Zion, and from time to time he makes inflammatory statements as a result of political interests - so let him talk. We also know how to speak. When it comes to practice, I think the Turks have other interests, such as Israeli gas or Israeli tourism." He added: "Inflammatory rhetoric is often a sign of distress."
