Knesset speaker should apologize for 'treacherous left'

Meretz chairman Zahava Galon sharply criticized Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein before the Knesset plenum Monday afternoon for remarks last week, in which he called the left a treacherous one.

Galon said, "When Yuli Edelstein says that 'not every right[winger] is a fascist right[winger], and not every left[winger] is a treacherous left[winger], it attributes treachery to the left. And the interpretation is delegitimization of the entire left and that traitors must be treated, perhaps even like [assassinated prime minister Yitzhak] Rabin the traitor. It is not surprising that we have not yet heard him apologize for calling the left 'treacherous,' words that were permitting bloodshed."
