French president-elect Emmanuel Macron gave a victory speech Sunday night in which he saluted rival Marine Le Pen. Macron promised "I will use all my resources and abilities to gain your trust. We have challenges that have gone unanswered too long: the economic problems and the moral and political weakening."
He continued, "I will strengthen our country and Europe. I fear that the country is divided, I understand the anxiety and doubts that you have expressed and I am going to be attentive to them. I'm going to fight inequality and fight tirelessly for your safety. I will make sure that France is at the highest level possible in fighting terrorism - and we will win this battle."
