Jerusalem's Herzog Medical Center, Israel's foremost center for geriatric, respiratory, mental health and psychotrauma care, treatment and research will hold an opening ceremony of its new expanded Medical Pavilion on May 16.

The 123-year-old hospital's new pavilion will add 270 much needed beds to Herzog’s current 330 beds. The children in the hospital’s Children’s Chronic Respiratory Care Department have already been transferred to the dramatically larger department in the new pavilion. This eight floor pavilion will include an underground 200 bed emergency hospital built to withstand the impact of missiles and provide protection from biological and chemical attack. It will also be the first hospital in Israel designed and built as a green hospital with the highest international Leadership i Engergy and Environmental Design rating.
