Russia's Defense Ministry said its military chief of staff and the chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff have agreed to restore communications and work to prevent conflicts between US and Russian warplanes over Syrian airspace.
Generals Joseph Dunford and Valery Gerasimov on Saturday also said they would take measures to avoid conflict.
Russia suspended communications with the US after US President Donald Trump ordered a strike on a Syrian air base in April.
