President Rivlin presented the "prize for courage" to a young Russian immigrant named Katia Sochat, during the course of an evening honoring the contribution of Russian expatriates to Israeli society in the fields of security, technology, culture, education and sport.
Katia was awarded the prize for her part in eliminating a terrorist during an attack at the Ariel industrial zone. Despite being injured in the attack, Sochat, who was a security guard at the site, eliminated the terrorist and saved her friend's life.
Rivlin said: Katia, you are a true hero and true fighter and a pride to Israel.
